If you have experience as a support worker and would like to join a truely dedicated team, contact us via the form below to express your interest today.
We are looking for Disability or Aged Care Support Workers to join our local team, supporting older people and people living with disability to live independently in the community.
Support 4U CQ operates in the Central Queensland area around Emerald and Blackwater.
About the role
The role involves travelling between customer's homes and assisting them with daily living and lifestyle requirements by providing person centred care and support. This may include: use of aids and personal equipment (i.e. walking frames, wheelchairs, hoists etc.), light domestic duties, meal preparation, social support/transport to medical appointments or shopping centres and supporting customers with complex and/or challenging needs.
What you will need:
To work or volunteer with a registered NDIS provider or a state-funded disability provider in Queensland, you may need a disability worker screening clearance before you start working.
To apply for a disability worker screening clearance you need to be engaged in employment with a provider, or a provider must be proposing to engage you.
Employers must verify your engagement before your application is considered valid.
If you work with children with disability, you will also need a blue card.
You can apply for both cards by completing a combined application via the Worker Portal and pay just one fee.
A Worker Orientation Module called ‘Quality, Safety and You’ will assist all NDIS workers to better support people with disability.
This module is an interactive online course that explains the obligations of workers under the NDIS Code of Conduct – from the perspective of NDIS participants.
It was developed in consultation with the sector, including NDIS providers and people with a disability.
All registered NDIS providers under the NDIS Commission should include the module within their induction process for workers, and encourage existing workers to undertake the module over time, as part of their ongoing learning and to support compliance with the NDIS Code of Conduct.
It takes approximately 90 minutes to complete the four modules. Once completed, workers will receive a Certificate of Completion.
During the module, workers are encouraged to consider and respond to different scenarios in the context of supporting a person with disability.
On completion of the module, workers will have an understanding of the role of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and their roles and responsibilities under the Code of Conduct including: human rights, respect and risk.
